Here in Tahoe, we see a wide spectrum of buildings and conditions... from old cabins and commercial buildings to what was considered "modern" in the 70's and 80's. Many properties were remodeled or "improved" by weekenders and handymen... and some were built or improved by professional tradesmen. Building materials used in the past have varying life expectancies, and some installation methods used were better than others. In any case: Tahoe is a high mountain environment which causes rapid wear and damage to structures and their components.
